Hello everyone, I see lot has been discussed but do not find any solution to fix this error while updating to SP3, it fails and gives the error code of 29512

http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sqlexpress/thread/c7d0a234-763b-4f9c-b7ec-3a40df6340a8 may be what you're looking for... Server you're trying to update is switched off? ie is SQL Server service running? If not, then that causes the error. When it is my production Server, how could it be switched off? However the service does gets stopped; after the update failure which the I have to turn it on again manually.

A lot of the Google searches for this error talk about clusters - is your scenario on a cluster?
