Thanks Fatherjack..Thanks David When i was trying to Install the Upgrade Advisor at Sql Server 2000 to test the Migration to Sql Server 2008 ..... im getting below error. This intallation package cannot be installed by the windows installer service. You must install a windows service pack that contains a newer version of the window installer services. Please let me know how to resolve this. Thanks Naina

The resolution is kind of detailed in the error:
Without knowing what version of Windows you're on, it's hard to tell you which one to get - but just make sure your Windows O/S is on the latest version, or install the upgrade advisor on a machine with a newer O/S version.

The prerequisites for the upgrade advisor are listed here : http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms144256.aspx. It doesnt need to be installed on a server, it can run from your own PC, so long as it can access the SQL Server over a network connection it will be OK. This is an odd error to be getting as your previous question was about getting it to collect data from a server. For that error it must have been installed ... ? Was there a reason to move it from the computer you had it installed on?
