The Upgrade Advisor checks whether an earlier version of SQL Server will upgrade successfully to 2008. You're already on 2008 so there's no need to run it.

As the error says, the upgrade advisor wont work on a SQL 2008 instance. You need to give it the details of either a 2000 or 2005 SQL server that you want to analyse before upgrading it to SQL 2008. It will then diagnose potential issues for you to handle before, during or after your upgrade.
