SQL 2005 Standard Backup into SQL 2005 Express

Hello,

We will be receiving a full backup of a SQL Server 2005 Standard database via a BAK file. It would be so much easier to deal with the database at our end if we could restore this backup into a clean SQL Server 2005 Express instance. We simply need to do some data extraction and analysis once we have a working copy of the database on our system.

Has anyone tried this and were there any problems encountered?

Thanks in advance for any assistance/recommendations that might be made.

Only issue I can this of is the database size. Express has a max size of 4Gb.

See MSDN for other limitations...

Thanks for the confirmation Jonlee. The size of the database won't be an issue (1.7GB), I was just somewhat concerned that the different SQL Server editions might cause problems.
