SSRS Group Border

Hello everyone,

I have SSRS 2005 report that need to border solid vertical line around group to border on 3 sections. Does anyone have ideas how to do it? ___________________________________________________________________ John smith 300 500 2543 Cherry Street Active _____________________________________________________________________

Need to have vertical solid line around group like this: ________________________________________________________________ |John smith 300 500 | 2543 | Cherry Street Active | ________________________________________________________________

I cannot draw continously vertical line on the illustration above, on report it should be continous, connecting with the horizontal line above and horizontal border line below it.

Any comment, I will appreciate it.

thanks, Paulus

Paulus - is each element - "John Smith", "300", "500", "2543", etc. - a separate field in a table, or a separate text box set on a list or rectangle?

If these are individual fields in a table, you can select multiple fields at a time and set a border around the outside of those.

you should be able to select the rows in the table that are the group you want to format and then move to the properties toolbar and set the Border attributes as you need them.

Thanks for the reply. Method above works only for bordering cell by cell, it does not work for bordering group of cells as one border

John Smith 300 500 2543 Cherry Street Active Mary Bee 400 500 2543 Mapple Street InActive

need to be group & bordered by the 2543 value as follow: |John Smith 300 500 | 2543 | Cherry Street Active | |Mary Bee 400 500 | | Mapple Street InActive |

1st rectangle border box should cover: John Smith 300 500 Mary Bee 400 500

2nd rectangle border box should cover 2543 2543

3rd rectangle border box should cover Cherry Street Active Mapple Street InActive

All 3 boxes are sitting next to each other in one group band.

Is there a way I can attached screen shot on this post? I tried to load the zip image file 228 KB and failed with message "sorry uploading requires karma >60"

thanks everyone!

click the grey area to the left of the actual cells in the table group or go to the Properties window and find the group by name in the drop down.

Sorry, posting format does not looks right

1st rectangle border box should cover:

John Smith 300 500
Mary Bee 400 500

2nd rectangle border box should cover, which is the group by:

2543

3rd rectangle border box should cover:

Cherry Street Active
Mapple Street Inactive

OK, I see what you mean now. I'll have to go and test some ideas.

PS if you need to another time, it is pretty easy to insert an image into a question or an answer just to illustrate a point more easily

Perfect, it works. Yes they are individual fields, I appreciate it very much.

I still tried to insert image and still won't work. On the tool bar of posting question it has icon B I, Globe Picture, , `` 101 and next to it a square icon to insert image with Ctrl-G shortcut, I tried to upldate JPG, still got message "sorry uploading image required Karma > 60" when loading from my laptop. I tried both loading by clicking the icon and using keyboard shortcut Ctrl-G and does not work. Could you please let me know?

Sorry, I have other question. I am thinking that I may need to create a Square Box image and insert into the report. But anyone probably have easier way to do it, without having to create JPG or GIF or TIFF white box file.

1001 Cheryl St

Lid __ New Lid __ Bar __ Garbage
Lid __ New Lid __ Bar __ Recycling

On the place where shown as __ (underscore), need to be replaced with square white box.

In the mean time I will try my square box image file idea above see it work. I have inserted image file before for the page header, but never tried inserted in the detail band before.

Any commment, I would greatly appreciate it & have a good day everyone!

Well, I don't know why. On the posting preview before posting, it show all under score in between Lid New Lid Bar Garbage, after posting the underscore disappear. The underscore is a place where user can checkmark with pen on paper print out.

Let me try again this one:

Lid ___ Garbage

Lid ___ Recycling

Keep answering and asking questions, and you'll get to 60 Karma sooner rather than later. :)

Can you: add another column, between "Lid" and "Garbage", and leave it empty - don't add a field or value. Set the properties to have either just a bottom line, or top/bottom/left/right lines.

@paulus - we have reviewed and reduced the limits on uploading images to assist in giving details when asking questions and you should not get that error whe you try next time.

New code box

There's a new way to format code on the site - the red speech bubble logo will automatically format T-SQL for you. The original code box is still there for XML, etc. More details here.
