Can I edit maintenance plans in BIDS?

I have a number of maintenance plans on my server instances. However I want to let people manage these plans that are usually working in BIDS. Can they edit maintenance plans in BIDS and still have them run on the serveR?

Technically I can't think of a reason why not.

Maintenance Plans are essentially SSIS packages stored on the SQL Server. SSIS packages are usually created and maintained in Visual Studio.

BIDS is a 'customized' version of Visual Studio.

So there should be no reason (although it might be complicated). There may be security/permissions issues to overcome.

I'll have to play a little more.....
