Unable to start sql agent

Am running sql server 2008 on a vista ultimate machine but everytime I try to start the sql agent I get an error that the service did not respond in a timely manner and it never starts

What (if anything) is shown in the SQLAGENT.OUT file?

Also, check the Windows Event log for service start up issue.

I checked the Windows Event log and I got this error ' SQLServerAgent could not be started (reason: Error creating a new session)'.

For me it sounds like one of two things:

  1. Permissions
  2. Failed installation
Is the SQL Agent service account a member of the sysadmin server role?
