SQL Server 2008 Developer Installation

I am trying to install SQL Server 2008 Developer Edition. But the setup fails each time stating the error

"The loading and initialization of 'setup.rll' failed with error code: 0x80070002"

I had SQL Server 2008 Express installed and while I tried to upgrade from Express to Developer, it threw this error. Now I am neither able to uninstall SQL Express nor install SQL developer.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

I've edited the answer given - have another go.

Looking again, it might be under 100, rather than 90, given that he was talking about SQL2008...

click on start -> run -> regedit open find and search for

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\
    Microsoft SQL Server\90\Tools\ClientSetup\CurrentVersion\CurrentVersion

check it and set its values to zero and it will be working fine
