Can anyone tell me what the critical system tables are in 2008 that are checked within a CHECKDB? I'm trying to break down CHECKDB into parts as described on msdn as the full check takes too long In 2005 they are

I honestly don't know, but I would suggest you go here to get the answers. Paul wrote the original DBCC process and is still extremely involved with SQL Server development. I like and loathe reading Paul's blog. I like it because I learn so much, and it's so well written, and I loathe it because it usually reminds me how rubbish I am. I would love to meet him one day / take a course with him.

I have met him. Actually I was on stage with him and his wife at the last PASS summit for a game. It was an horrifyingly embarassing beating because they were so very smart and well informed and I'm just not. But, they're great people, very nice. Excellent teachers and presenters too.

I've only been to one of Paul's classes, but I've attended a ton of Kim's. She's scary smart. I learn something every time. I thought they traveled over there occasionally... Wait, they were just in Ireland for a couple of weeks at least. I know it's another country, but it's only a few hours away.
